A Different Approach to Crypto
I'm Dr. Rahber Thariani, and my goal is to bring a new level of quantitative rigor to crypto investing.
My background isn't in traditional finance. It's in solving complex, data-intensive problems. With a PhD in Bioengineering and a career spent developing solutions at analytical powerhouses like McKinsey & Company and Amazon, my entire professional life has been dedicated to one core skill: finding the signal in the noise.
In fields from biological systems to global logistics, the challenge is always the same: how to build a model that accurately describes reality and provides a predictive edge. When I turned my attention to the crypto markets, I saw the same challenge, but amplified by extreme volatility and market hype.
The Origin of the PAI: When a Great Model Meets its Limits
I founded this site on the power of mathematical models, starting with the Power Law as a robust tool for mapping Bitcoin's long-term growth. The Power Law is an incredible strategic map, providing a structural view of a multi-year journey.
But in late 2024, I encountered a problem. Kaspa, a project with immense potential, previously following a Power Law, was showing significant deviations. The deviations weren't just temporary noise; they were so significant that they challenged the model's predictive power for a young, parabolic asset.
Relying solely on a long-term trendline for a fast-moving asset felt like navigating a speedboat with an oil tanker's map. It was clear a new tool was needed—a tactical GPS for navigating the short-to-medium term market psychology.
Out of that necessity, I developed the Power Amplitude Index (PAI).
Instead of looking at an asset's position on a long-term curve, the PAI is designed to do one thing: quantify market psychology. It analyzes the amplitude and velocity of price movements to measure fear and greed, providing a clear signal from 0 (extreme opportunity) to 1.0 (extreme risk). It is completely independent of the Power Law, which is its greatest strength.
My Mission and Philosophy
The mission of The Power Law Investor is to provide you with a clear, data-driven arsenal to navigate the crypto markets with confidence. The core philosophy rests on the convergence of two independent systems:
- The Strategic Map (The Power Law): To understand the long-term structural cycle.
- The Tactical GPS (The PAI): To time the short-term psychological extremes.
When these two independent models point to the same conclusion, the signal is one of extremely high conviction.
I'm often asked why I share these models publicly. The reason is simple: my business model is to build a scalable media and analytics company, not a secretive hedge fund. I believe the real "alpha" isn't just having the data; it's having the psychological discipline to act on it. By "eating my own cooking" in public, I aim to build a community of rational, long-term investors.
